- TERASTIE 1
- TPNa

DOCTOR’S COMMENT

Key points
Dermation is an infusion treatment that delivers aesthetic ingredients into the skin without needles. At our clinic, we start from a base of high-concentration tranexamic acid and glutathione, combine it with Pink Glow or PDRN-based Rejuran, and offer four courses. In this article, we explain clearly for patients what each course contains and how to choose between them.
Dermation is a medical device that is not approved in Japan. Details are given in “TREATMENT INFORMATION” at the end of this article. How the effects are felt and the number of sessions needed vary between individuals.
For those who want to deliver aesthetic ingredients to the skin but feel a little uneasy about injections
You want to deliver aesthetic ingredients to your skin, but injections make you a little uneasy. If that sounds like you, we would like you to know about “Dermation”, a needle-free infusion treatment.
At Hills Grace Clinic, the treatment does not end with simply applying the device. We first condition the skin with the Standard base, and then combine Pink Glow or PDRN-based Rejuran with it.
“I want more radiance.” “I’m concerned about dryness and a lack of firmness.” “I don’t know which to choose.” We suggest one of four courses to match each person’s concerns.
What is electroporation?

Electroporation is an infusion method in which short electrical pulses are thought to temporarily increase the permeability of the skin barrier and cell membranes, making it easier for applied aesthetic ingredients to move into the skin. It derives from a technique that was originally an experimental method for delivering substances into cells, and was studied extensively at institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University.
- 1. Electrical pulses are applied → the permeability of cell membranes is thought to increase temporarily, creating pathways for the ingredients
- 2. Aesthetic ingredients are delivered → the applied formulation can move more easily through those pathways into the skin
- 3. The pathways close naturally → the pathways created are temporary and return to their original state over time
Iontophoresis, which is often compared with it, is a method that moves small, electrically charged molecules. Because electroporation creates the pathways themselves, it is less affected by the molecular size or electrical properties of the ingredients, and it can more easily handle ingredients that are difficult to deliver with iontophoresis.
With Dermation, the chosen formulation is infused while a handpiece is applied to the skin. Unlike injection treatments that use needles, it makes it easier to avoid needle pain and bruising. Dermation is a medical device handled only by medical institutions.
What the treatment looks like
During treatment you may feel stinging or warmth, and after treatment redness, swelling, dryness or itching may occur. If you have any symptoms that concern you, do not simply keep waiting to see what happens on your own judgement; please contact the clinic.
Same Dermation, but the difference is “what goes in”
Dermation is a treatment also available at other medical institutions. That is exactly why we would like you to compare not only the device name but what is infused into the skin.
Our Standard is built around TERASTIE 1 (Tone-Up Essence), part of the daily skincare designed by a doctor. On an amino acid peptide base, we layer proteoglycan, a vitamin E derivative, vitamin B12 and a high-concentration vitamin C derivative, in a formulation that considers moisture, rough skin and a brighter appearance together.
On that foundation, we combine Pink Glow, which focuses on radiance and moisture, and PDRN-based Rejuran, which approaches texture and firmness through skin quality. Even with the same device, when the ingredients infused change, the purpose of the treatment changes too.

- Amino acid peptide
- A base containing 16 amino acids and 3 ceramides (amino acids = the building blocks of the proteins that make up the skin; ceramides = lipids that support moisture in the stratum corneum)
- TERASTIE 1
- Built around high-concentration tranexamic acid, with glutathione, dipotassium glycyrrhizinate, hyaluronic acid and 5 ceramides
- Proteoglycan
- A moisturising ingredient that hydrates the stratum corneum and holds in water
- TPNa
- A vitamin E derivative, included as a skin-conditioning ingredient
- Cyanocobalamin
- Vitamin B12, included to help keep the skin healthy
- VC serum
- A high-concentration vitamin C derivative, included as a skin-conditioning ingredient
The Standard uses this base alone; Pink Glow, Rejuran and Double combine this base with their respective formulations. Please check the product labelling for the full ingredients and concentrations. How the ingredients’ effects are felt varies between individuals.
The ingredient design of TERASTIE 1 is explained in detail in a related article. Before treatment, please check the actual product labelling and explanation for all ingredients, concentrations and formulations used.
Four Dermation courses, chosen by skin concern

There is no single right answer when choosing a course. Starting from “the concern that bothers you most” makes it easier to choose.
A guide if you are unsure
- First time and unsure; want to condition the skin first → Standard
- Want to focus on radiance, moisture and a brighter appearance → Pink Glow
- Want to address texture, firmness and dryness through skin quality → Rejuran
- Want to discuss both radiance and skin quality → Double
This is only a guide. Depending on redness, melasma, inflammation, history of allergies, recent treatments and so on, we may reduce the content or change the order.
Pink Glow and PDRN Rejuran: what is the difference?
Pink Glow | For those who want to focus on radiance and moisture

Pink Glow is a compound formulation combining amino acids, vitamins, collagen, coenzymes, glutathione, peptides, hyaluronic acid and more.
- Amino acids
- 23 types (the building blocks of the proteins that make up the skin)
- Vitamins
- 13 types
- Minerals
- 6 types
- Coenzymes
- 6 types (cofactors that assist reactions in the body)
- Nucleic acids
- 5 types (materials that make up the cell’s blueprint)
- Others
- Glutathione, hyaluronic acid
55 ingredients in total. The composition may vary depending on the lot and specifications. Please check the formulation actually used before treatment.
For those concerned about dullness due to dryness, a lack of radiance or skin smoothness, Pink Glow is an option that aims for moisture and a brighter appearance. However, depending on the cause of uneven tone, such as melasma or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, we may not decide on Pink Glow alone.
PDRN-based Rejuran | For those who want to address texture and firmness through skin quality

The Rejuran introduced here is a skin booster using PDRN. Two vials are used in combination.
- Skin Booster I
- c-PDRN, hyaluronic acid
- Skin Booster II
- 4 amino acids (glycine, L-lysine, L-leucine, L-proline)
- What is c-PDRN?
- A polydeoxyribonucleotide for aesthetic use, obtained by extracting DNA fragments derived from salmon
- Manufacturer
- PharmaResearch (Korea)
Composition based on information published by the manufacturer. In Japan, Rejuran Skin Booster is a medicine that has not obtained approval under the PMD Act. Please check the formulation actually used and its contents before treatment.
PDRN and PN have in common that both are derived from DNA. In general, those with relatively short DNA fragments are called PDRN, and those with longer fragments PN.
PDRN is an ingredient that has been studied in the fields of tissue repair and wound healing. In aesthetic medicine, it is used to improve skin quality, addressing dryness, texture, firmness and so on.
Neither Pink Glow nor Rejuran is better than the other. We consider the skin you are aiming for, examine its current condition, and suggest the combination you need.
Choosing together what you can comfortably continue
With Dermation, it is easy to feel moisture and radiance immediately after treatment, but the appearance of the skin is also influenced by lighting, sleep, the season and home care. Rather than judging from the impression of a single session, it is important to adjust the content while watching the condition of the skin.
At our clinic, we check your skin condition and wishes at the consultation, and together we consider the ingredients to infuse, the combination, the interval and so on, aiming for content that suits your skin now and that you can comfortably continue.
DOCTOR’S COMMENT
Director Kentaro Oku
Dermation is an option for delivering aesthetic ingredients without needles. What matters is not choosing by the device name alone, but thinking about what to deliver to your skin as it is now. On the Standard base: Pink Glow or PDRN-based Rejuran, or both if needed. I examine your skin, listen to your wishes, and suggest a combination you can be satisfied with.

Frequently asked questions
How is this different from electroporation at other clinics?
The treatment changes depending not only on the device but on what is infused. At our clinic, we start from a base of high-concentration tranexamic acid and glutathione and combine Pink Glow or PDRN-based Rejuran according to your skin concerns.
How do the four courses differ?
Standard is a base of TERASTIE 1, proteoglycan, TPNa, cyanocobalamin and VC serum layered on an amino acid peptide base. Pink Glow is Standard + Pink Glow, Rejuran is Standard + PDRN-based Rejuran, and Double is Standard + Pink Glow + Rejuran.
Which suits me, Pink Glow or Rejuran?
As one guide: Pink Glow if you want to focus on radiance, moisture and a brighter appearance, and PDRN-based Rejuran if you want to address texture, firmness and dryness through skin quality. In practice, we make a suggestion after checking your skin condition and wishes.
Are PDRN and PN the same thing?
They have in common that both are derived from DNA, but in general they are groups of ingredients that differ in DNA fragment length and molecular weight. Naming differs between products, so please check the name and ingredient labelling of the formulation actually used.
Is there pain or downtime?
Because no needles are inserted, it is a treatment in which injection pain and bruising are easier to avoid. However, stinging, warmth, redness, swelling, dryness, itching and so on may occur. If you have any symptoms that concern you, please contact us.
I don’t know what to choose
It is fine if you have not decided on a course before you come. Please tell us what concerns you most, such as dryness, dullness, radiance, firmness or texture. After checking your skin condition, we will choose together.
